Wednesday Casual Chess, 3rd Wednesday Blitz

Casual Chess and More

Announcement: Thanks to a generous donation by Puddletown Chess, female and non-binary players up to age 18 may play for free in the following monthly events in 2024: the Game in 60, Tuesday Quads, Wednesday Quads, Wednesday Blitz, and Sunday Quads.

Casual chess is held every Wednesday from 6-9pm at the Portland Chess Center, (parking and directions). You can come anytime and stay until 9pm for casual chess. Occasionally, a Tournament Director may be supervising that will work with players that want to play virtually any sort of tournament during these three hours (rated or unrated, regular, dual, quick, or blitz, quad or Swiss, etc.). There may also be problem solving. There are no fees or memberships required to play casual games or do problem solving. If we hold a tournament, the tournament entry fee is $5. Boards, pieces, notation sheets, pens/pencils, and some digital clocks are provided. Casual chess is a great way to get introduced to the club.

Location: Portland Chess Center, 2025 Lloyd Center, Portland, OR 97232. For driving directions to the club, parking information, and important information on how to get to the club facility in the evening when some doors may be locked, click here. If the mall doors on the top level of the 9th and Halsey garage are locked, call (503) 246-2978 and the supervisor will meet you at the doors to the third level food court that are recommended on that page.
